Job summary

Exyte US, Inc. is seeking a proactive Project Engineer - Mechanical - CUP to support construction activities on a GMP-compliant pharma project in Illinois.

You will assist the Construction Manager with planning, coordination, and oversight to ensure milestones are met safely, on time, and within budget. The role requires 3–5 years in construction, preferably in biopharma or life sciences, with strong knowledge of drawings, specifications, and project documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of construction experience, preferably in biopharma, life sciences, cleanroom, or containment facilities.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specs, and project documentation.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily construction operations with the Construction Manager and subcontractor activities.
• Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation to maintain project timelines.
• Assist in managing RFI, submittals, meeting minutes, and progress reports.
• Monitor QA/QC to ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Promote safety protocols and participate in safety audits and toolbox talks.
• Track material deliveries and coordinate with procurement for timely resources.
• Facilitate communication between field teams, contractors, and project managers.
• Identify escalation of issues impacting timelines or quality and help develop solutions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Engineer - Mechanical - CUP to support and coordinate construction activities on a complex multi-building GMP compliant pharma project. This role involves assisting the construction management team in planning, execution, and oversight of daily operations to ensure project milestones are met safely, on time, and within budget.

• Support the Construction Manager in overseeing daily construction operations and subcontractor activities.
• Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation to maintain project timelines.
• Assist in managing documentation including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and progress reports.
• Monitor quality assurance and control processes to ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Promote and enforce safety protocols and participate in safety audits and toolbox talks.
• Track material deliveries and coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely availability of resources.
• Facilitate communication between field teams, contractors, and project managers.
• Identify and escalation issues that may impact project timelines or quality, and assist in developing solutions.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5 years of experience in construction, preferably in biopharma & life sciences, cleanroom, or high-level containment facilities.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project).

Preferred:

• OSHA 30 certification or equivalent.
• Experience working on fast-paced, large-scale and complex pharma or life sciences projects.
• Knowledge of GMP and pharmaceutical facility systems (e.g., HVAC, process piping, electrical distribution).
