Job Description
Assist in the effective daily operation of one or more project(s) by providing technical and informational support to the project team. Take action as needed to ensure project goals, objectives and initiatives are met in alignment with the mission, vision and values of Barnhill Contracting Company.
Responsibilities
- Manage project schedules, material procurement, subcontractors, resources, and project documents.
- Assist in the management of Owner Change Orders, Subcontractor Change Orders, RFIs, and project closeout.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure installations meet or exceed approved submittals, shop drawings, and quality standards.
- Document and track project submittals (Product Data, Shop Drawings, Samples, Mock‑ups) with subcontractors, design team and owners.
- Update contract drawings and specifications with architect supplemental information.
- Prepare meeting agendas, record minutes and distribute them to the project team.
- Participate in pre‑construction activities including planning, design interpretation, construction methods, conflict resolution, constructability reviews, bidding, subcontractor solicitation and post‑bid scope reviews.
- Collaborate with mentors to implement and maintain safe working conditions and ensure personnel operate efficiently to meet productivity and profitability goals.
Qualifications & Training
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and work experience.
- Entry‑level construction or project management experience preferred.
- Minimum age 21 years old with a valid NC driver’s license.
- Background in Construction Management or Civil Engineering preferred.
- Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, Primavera P6, Spectrum, BlueBeam, BIM360, and Revit.
- Technical skills: Plan and specification reading, BIM coordination, scheduling, construction technology, record‑keeping, safety and environmental regulations (OSHA).
- Personal skills: Strong relationships, integrity, value‑based leadership, emotional intelligence, and conflict management.
