Job summary

Abbott Construction in Seattle, WA is seeking a Project Engineer to support the Project Manager and Superintendent through all project phases. You will manage submittals, RFIs, and change orders, provide research and data entry, and assist in budgeting and planning to ensure on‑time delivery.

A 4‑year construction degree and 1+ years’ project engineering experience are required, with healthcare construction experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must pass a drug test.
• 4-year degree in a construction related major.
• Motivated for a long-term career in construction.
• 1+ years of project engineering experience.
• Preferred experience in healthcare construction and fast-paced construction managing multiple projects concurrently.
• Focus on following processes and procedures, taking ownership of the role, and not being afraid of difficult conversations and relaying bad news when required.

Responsibilities

• Manage submittal process.
• Manage RFI process.
• Manage change order proposal process.
• Provide research, backup support, legwork, data entry as requested by PM and Supt.
• Complete budget revisions in Viewpoint as required.
• Support safety in alignment with Abbott's core values.
• Combine knowledge of engineering methods, construction methods and people management skills.
• Support planning, scheduling and coordinating projects to meet deadlines.
• Assist estimating by soliciting subcontractors and distributing plans.
• Be main contact for subcontractors as requested by the PM.
• If needed, act as a Project Manager when PM is unavailable.
