Job summary

Actalent in Lexington, KY is seeking a Project Engineer to lead testing and certification projects across client products. You will manage scope, plan test activities, and deliver detailed reports while serving as the main technical contact.

The role combines hands-on lab work with on-site testing near Bristol, VA and requires about 50% travel. Candidates should have a engineering degree and 4+ years of relevant experience, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Hands-on engineering experience with electrical systems or testing equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Willingness to travel approximately 50% to Bristol, VA.

Responsibilities

• Manage testing and compliance projects from kickoff through completion.
• Review product specifications and standards to define testing requirements.
• Develop and execute detailed test plans based on customer needs.
• Set up products, fixtures, and equipment for electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing.
• Perform electrical safety, leakage current, dielectric strength, and other tests.
• Troubleshoot test setups, document failures, and identify root causes.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and present results to clients.
• Serve as primary client contact and provide regular project updates.
• Coordinate lab resources, equipment, samples, and schedules.
• Assist with scoping, timelines, and quote development.
• Support field evaluations, design reviews, and compliance initiatives.
• Build and calibrate basic test fixtures.
• Contribute to procedures and best practices.
• Participate in audits and client investigations as needed.
• Maintain accurate tracking and shipment records for samples.
• Lead engineering efforts at Bristol, VA client site when traveling.
• Support additional lab projects when not traveling.
• Continuously learn new standards and testing methods.
