Job summary

Sterling Construction Company, Inc. invites applications for a Project Engineer - Internship in our Heavy Civil Division in Boise, ID.

Interns will receive training from Corporate Project Engineers in Heavy Civil, Bridges, and Piling and Shoring, with field and office exposure depending on project needs. Each intern is paired with a mentor to develop technical and professional skills, with potential for a future full-time role based on performance.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering.
  • Minimum GPA 2.75.
  • Past construction work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Superintendents.
  • Assist in public relations, claims, subcontractor back charges, and force account work.
  • Process documents to start up the project per checklist.
  • Update and maintain CPM under direction of P.M.
  • Monthly schedule distribution to field and subcontractors.
  • Schedule surveys and inspections for field operations.
  • Update As-Built drawings if required.
  • Track quantities to ensure payment by Owner.
  • Manage Blue Stakes.
  • Manage change order correspondence and tracking.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering
Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering
Minimum GPA 2.75
Junior or Senior (highly preferred)

Now offering a Project Engineer- Internship in our Heavy Civil Division in Boise, ID, where the selected intern will experience training from experienced Corporate Project Engineers in fields such as Heavy Civil, Bridges, and Piling and Shoring.

We offer both field and office experience depending on the project. Our internships are with the goal to evaluate the candidate's potential as a possible future, full-time employee. We offer internships and opportunity to receive diversified training through on-the-job assignments using the technical skills acquired in college. Each intern will be assigned a mentor to help develop both technical and professional skills.
Internship Work Schedule

Summer 2027 (May August) Monday Friday.

7:00AM to 5:30PM (working hours could be different)

**Possible nighttime operations, depending on project

**Possible part-time work during fall/winter semester (while attending school)

Position Description
  • Assists Project Superintendents

Position Requirements
  1. Junior or Senior (highly preferred)

  4. Past construction work experience is preferred
