Job summary

Silverado Contractors, Inc. offers an Intern Program for Civil Engineering and Construction Management students, providing real-world experience on project teams.

Interns will work with professional staff, attend meetings, and assist with day-to-day activities and deliverables during a 6–10 week summer period. Duties include evaluating field conditions, QA/QC support, survey application, RFIs and contract changes, document control, and schedule preparation.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Engineering or Construction Management or a similar program at an accredited technical college or university.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to interface with all levels of personnel and management.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and scheduling/project management software.

Responsibilities

• Attend meetings and assist PMs with day-to-day activities and deliverables.
• Support field team with project layout, RFIs, and contract changes.
• Provide document control assistance for correspondence and submittals.
• Assist with updating project schedule and input from scheduling decisions.
• Respond to field for design clarification and manage subcontractor field operations.

Learn from and train with the industry's finest professionals! Silverado Contractors, Inc. our Intern Program provides challenging and rewarding opportunities for college students majoring in Civil Engineering and Construction Management.

Internship positions at Silverado provide college students an opportunity to gain “real-world” experience in their specific area of study. Interns will work alongside world-class professionals in a fast- paced, professional setting which provides invaluable experiences applying the knowledge and skills learned through education in a business environment.

You will be working on a project team and with other stakeholder teams (such as safety, environmental, estimating, etc...). Duties include attending meetings, assisting PM’s with various day to day activities and deliverables, etc. Anticipated work schedule will be full-time during the summer for between 6 to 10 weeks.

Training Opportunities

• Assist with evaluation of field conditions and acceptance testing.
• Support quality assurance and quality control engineering materials testing.
• Apply survey knowledge to assist with project layout and checking of work to confirm work is in conformance with plans and specifications.
• Review project drawings and coordinate any RFIs and contract changes.
• Provide document control assistance for correspondence, submittals, design releases etc.
• Initiate engineering design clarifications.
• Perform quantity tracking and productivity analysis for maximization of operation efficiency.
• Assist with preparing and updating project schedule and interact will all involved in the scheduling decision processes.
• Respond to field for design clarification and manage subcontractors field operations, verify contract payments.
• Provide design assistance to the project engineer for the design of temporary structures using computer aided design tools Qualifications.
• Field engineer interns/co-ops are required to be currently enrolled in Engineering, Construction Management or a similar program at an accredited technical college or university.
