Job summary

Silverado Contractors, Inc. offers an Intern Program for Civil Engineering and Construction Management students. Interns gain real-world experience by working on a project team with professionals in a fast-paced environment.

Duties include attending meetings, assisting PMs with day-to-day activities, reviewing drawings, RFIs, and coordinating with safety, environmental and estimating teams. The program runs full-time during the summer for 6–10 weeks.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Engineering, Construction Management or a similar program at an accredited college or university.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to work in a team.
• Ability to interface with all levels of personnel and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Attend meetings and assist PMs with day-to-day activities and deliverables.

Learn from and train with the industry's finest professionals! Silverado Contractors, Inc. our Intern Program provides challenging and rewarding opportunities for college students majoring in Civil Engineering and Construction Management.

Internship positions at Silverado provide college students an opportunity to gain “real-world” experience in their specific area of study. Interns will work alongside world-class professionals in a fast- paced, professional setting which provides invaluable experiences applying the knowledge and skills learned through education in a business environment.

You will be working on a project team and with other stakeholder teams (such as safety, environmental, estimating, etc...). Duties include attending meetings, assisting PM’s with various day to day activities and deliverables, etc. Anticipated work schedule will be full-time during the summer for between 6 to 10 weeks.

Training Opportunities

• Assist with evaluation of field conditions and acceptance testing.
• Support quality assurance and quality control engineering materials testing.
• Apply survey knowledge to assist with project layout and checking of work to confirm work is in conformance with plans and specifications.
• Review project drawings and coordinate any RFIs and contract changes.
• Provide document control assistance for correspondence, submittals, design releases etc.
• Initiate engineering design clarifications.
• Perform quantity tracking and productivity analysis for maximization of operation efficiency.
• Assist with preparing and updating project schedule and interact will all involved in the scheduling decision processes.
• Respond to field for design clarification and manage subcontractors field operations, verify contract payments.
• Provide design assistance to the project engineer for the design of temporary structures using computer aided design tools Qualifications.
• Field engineer interns/co-ops are required to be currently enrolled in Engineering, Construction Management or a similar program at an accredited technical college or university.
• Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills.
