You will gain hands-on exposure to documentation, field support, safety, and professional development while working with Procore, Viewpoint, Primavera, and Microsoft tools on-site in Missouri.

Qualifications

  • Current college student pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Familiarity with Procore and Microsoft Office is helpful.
  • Interest in construction and safety disciplines is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to navigate Procore and pursue certification.
  • Update and track drawings against RFIs, ASIs, and Addenda.
  • Review submittals against drawings and specs; maintain procurement log.
  • Review RFIs against plans and specifications before submitting.
  • Assist Superintendent with daily logs, photos, and schedule updates.
  • Support quality control and punch-list processes; verify field work matches submittals.
  • Assist on self-perform tasks and track crew sizes and production rates.
  • Develop preliminary project schedules and assist with communications.

Your Role
As a Project Engineer Intern, our goal is to prepare you for a full-time Project Engineer role. During your internship, you will be exposed to many aspects of the construction process and will work hand-in-hand with your Project Team to help coordinate construction activities and ensure a profitable, well-constructed, safe project is delivered.

Over the course of the summer internship, you will gain hands‑on exposure to the following areas:

Project Documentation & Drawings

  • Learn to navigate Procore and work toward Procore certification
  • Update and track drawings against RFIs, ASIs, and Addenda
  • Review submittals against drawings and specifications, maintain the submittal schedule, and keep the procurement log current
  • Review RFIs against plans and specifications before submitting

Field Support & Self‑Perform Work

  • Assist the Superintendent with daily logs, photos, schedule updates, and foreman meeting minutes
  • Support quality control and punchlist efforts, verifying installed products match approved submittals and specification requirements
  • Work alongside Tarlton’s self-perform crew on flatwork concrete, carpentry, and general labor activities; track crew sizes, production rates, and labor plans

Safety

  • Meet the Safety Team, administer weekly Toolbox Talks and site safety orientation, and conduct weekly Jobsite Safety Analysis Reports (JSARs) and Task Safety Behavioral Observations (TSBOs)
  • Develop preliminary project schedules using Microsoft Project, Excel, or Primavera (P6), and assist with schedule communication and supporting visual aids
  • Support estimating through quantity take-offs, quote solicitation, and pricing review, including participation on a bid day
  • Develop project‑specific subcontract scoping notes and participate in scoping meetings

Professional Development

  • Build ownership, communication, and networking skills through team meetings, intern events, and company activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience

Education & Certifications

Current college student seeking a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant degree

Tools & Software

Over the summer, you'll gain experience working in Viewpoint, Procore, Primavera, Microsoft Outlook, and Teams.

  • W ork is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment where the noise level is usually quiet.
  • If required, the employee may work from a jobsite trailer on occasion or owner‑designated office location. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to heavy equipment, jack hammers, pneumatic tools, etc. These sounds can be non‑stop throughout the day .
