Job summary

Wohlsen Construction Company is seeking a Construction Project Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 in Lancaster County, PA. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting the project team with submittals, RFIs, and documentation on commercial construction projects.

As an intern, you will assist with schedule updates, cost tracking, site visits, and coordination with trade partners, while developing professional skills under the guidance of project managers.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in construction management, civil or architectural engineering, or related fields.
• Strong written communication, organization, proofreading, and follow-through skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with construction mgmt tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collect, review, process, and distribute submittals and RFIs.
• Prepare and distribute project documentation, meeting minutes, and communications.
• Assist with bid package coordination, quote coverage, project billings, and draws.
• Maintain accurate project files and logs (permits, change orders, submittals, RFIs, closeout).
• Support Project Managers with schedule updates, cost tracking, and day-to-day activities.
• Participate in site walks, safety inspections, and team meetings.
• Coordinate with trade/design partners and internal teams; travel to sites as assigned.

About the Opportunity:

Provides administrative, coordination, and project support to the project team while gaining practical experience in commercial construction management.

How You'll Contribute

• Collect, review, process, and distribute submittals and requests for information (RFIs).
• Prepare and distribute project documentation, meeting minutes, correspondence, and project communications.
• Assist with bid package coordination, quote coverage, project billings, and draws.
• Maintain accurate project files and logs, including permits, change orders, submittals, RFIs, and closeout documentation.
• Support Project Managers with schedule updates, cost tracking, and day-to-day project management activities.
• Participate in site walks, safety inspections, quality observations, and project team meetings.
• Coordinate with trade partners, design partners, and internal team members under the direction of the project team.
• Travel to project jobsites and regional offices as assigned.

Intern Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related fields.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, scheduling software, or construction management systems is a plus.
• Strong written communication, organization, proofreading, and follow-through skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to assigned jobsites.

Working Conditions And Physical Requirements

This internship may include office work, active job site visits, travel between offices or projects, extended periods of sitting or standing, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs or ladders, and use of required personal protective equipment.
