Job summary

Ryan Companies seeks a Project Engineer Intern in Chicago to assist project teams and learn construction industry processes and Ryan policies.

You will gain understanding of budgets, cost accounting, invoices, contracts, schedule, safety, reading drawings, and communication.

Eligibility includes pursuing a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering/management, within 18 months of graduating, ability to work 40 hours/week for at least three months, and U.S. work authorization.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering/management or closely related field.
• Within 18 months of graduating.
• Be able to work 40 hours a week for at least a three-month term.
• Position requires verification of employment to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Understand budgets, cost accounting, invoices, contracts, and change orders.
• Develop understanding of job-site coordination, scheduling, quality control and safety.
• Learn estimating techniques and cost control methods.
• Perform mathematical calculations.
• Read and interpret contracts, specifications and architectural and engineering drawings.
• Communicate clearly, orally and in writing.

Job Summary

As a Project Engineer Intern, you will assist the project team in the completion of designated projects while focusing on learning construction industry processes, procedures, and Ryan business policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Gain a working understanding of budgets, cost accounting, invoices, contracts, and change orders.
• Develop a first-hand understanding of job-site coordination, scheduling, quality control and safety.
• Have a general knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control methods.
• Have the ability to perform mathematical calculations.
• Possess the ability to read and understand contracts, specifications and architectural and engineering drawings.
• Communicate clearly orally and in writing.

Compensation

The hourly base pay range is $20 - $25 per hour. The base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or incentive program.
