Job summary

Hillwood Construction Services (HCS) in Dallas, Texas, seeks a Project Engineer to support industrial construction projects across the region. Travel will be required, with relocation possible for strong candidates.

The role focuses on project coordination, documentation, and communication with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to keep projects on schedule and within budget. Opportunities exist to progress to a Project Manager role within 1–4 years.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in building construction science, Construction Management, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 1–5 years of experience in commercial general contracting preferred.
• Experience with construction project management software strongly preferred.
• Relevant internship/co‑op experience in construction may be considered for less full‑time experience.
• Willing to travel; relocation may be considered for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project pre‑construction planning, including meetings and minutes.
• Support buy‑out and estimating efforts, value engineering, and logistics planning.
• Assist in procurement activities and long‑lead item tracking.
• Coordinate schedules with Project Manager, Superintendent, and subcontractors.
• Review and distribute project documents, logs, submittals, drawings, and transmittals.
• Assist with monitoring schedules and budgets under the Project Manager.
• Coordinate with owners and consultants for status reports and permits.
• Provide technical information to ensure codes and specifications compliance.
• Maintain quality control by inspecting work to plans and specs.
• Participate in closeout activities including punch lists and O&M packages.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
