Job summary

Hillwood Construction Services is seeking a Project Engineer to support industrial construction projects in Houston, TX and Cincinnati, OH. The role involves coordination with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

Travel will be required and relocation may be considered for strong candidates. This position offers a clear path to a Project Manager role within 1 to 4 years based on performance and progression.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in building construction science, Construction Management, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with construction project management software is strongly preferred.
• Preferably 1–5 years of experience, ideally in a commercial general contractor role; recent graduates considered.
• Internship or co‑op experience in commercial/industrial construction is a plus.
• Travel will be required for this role.

Responsibilities

• Assist with pre-construction planning and meetings; prepare and maintain meeting minutes.
• Support buy-out and estimating efforts, including value engineering and constructability reviews.
• Assist procurement activities and coordinate materials and owner‑supplied equipment.
• Coordinate schedules with Project Manager, Superintendent, and subs.
• Maintain and distribute project documents, logs, submittals, drawings, and transmittals.
• Assist in monitoring schedules and budgets with Project Manager.
• Coordinate with owners/consultants; prepare status reports and hot lists.
• Assist with permit submissions and agency coordination.
• Provide technical information to ensure compliance with codes and specs.
• Support closeout activities including punch lists and O&M packages.
