Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineer II (NS) to provide engineering support for Division managed and Locally Administered Projects. You will assist the Division Project Manager, review design plans, track milestones and budgets, and help prepare reports and contracts.

You must hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering and have several years of related experience; a professional engineer license may be required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
Experience working with private engineering firms, municipalities, and planning organizations for review and approval of design plans.
Knowledge of NCDOT programming, planning, scheduling and funding procedures.

Responsibilities

Provide engineering support to manage delivery of Division managed projects and Locally Administered Projects.
Support the Division Project Manager and other project Development Engineers to ensure timely project delivery.
Review preliminary project scopes, planning documents, ROW and construction plans; assemble reports and track milestones and budgets.
Update SAP, monitor project websites, provide SharePoint and ATLAS support, and coordinate utility relocations and Right of Way issues.
Review contract proposals and prepare necessary project documents and PE evaluations.
