This hands-on role requires the candidate to understand the usage and operation of tools/equipment under development while also supporting the systems, data, and applications that enable efficient test execution, reporting, and decision-making. The Project Engineer II will act as a change agent and process owner for assigned engineering workflows by analyzing current-state processes, defining future-state improvements, and executing action plans that enhance the end-user experience, reduce waste, improve data quality, and streamline execution. Throughout a product’s development cycle, this position requires strong cross-functional communication, requirements management, data analytics, process discipline, project governance, and hands-on failure analysis to help launch new and exciting solutions that meet user needs. This role partners closely with IT, engineering, lab operations, business stakeholders, and end users to define requirements, prioritize improvements, remove impediments, and ensure sustainable adoption of process and application changes.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAct as a key technical contributor with respect to product testing, reliability, requirements management, data analysis, application support, and lab processes in a global environment.Serve as the process owner for assigned engineering workflows, taking accountability for process effectiveness, documentation, governance, standard work, training materials, change control, and continuous improvement activities.Analyze current-state business and engineering processes, identify gaps and inefficiencies, and develop future-state action plans that improve customer experience, reduce costs, improve data quality, and streamline execution.Provide organization, direction, and clarity to IT teams, engineering teams, lab operations, key stakeholders, and end users to define requirements for software products, dashboards, reporting tools, and process improvement initiatives.Collaborate with process owners, business partners, and technical teams to define application specifications related to user interface, workflow design, data requirements, reporting needs, and process improvement opportunities.Facilitate cross-functional teams through problem solving, creative thinking, and decision-making to accomplish short-term and long-term project and process goals.Provide an active role in identifying and mitigating impediments that impact successful completion of release, project, or process improvement goals.Participate in and conduct project updates to communicate project status, risks, dependencies, system readiness, and progress toward testing, verification, or implementation milestones.Translate process and business requirements into clear application, reporting, and data needs; coordinate with technical teams to implement scalable and sustainable solutions.Develop and maintain project charters, project plans, timelines, governance details, and progress tracking for scope, schedule, resources, risks, and deliverables.Ensure changes are fully integrated through follow-up communication, stakeholder alignment, training, consistency, and sustained adoption.Track and support multiple projects, processes, and application improvement efforts simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule, quality expectations, and the Milwaukee Tool process.Demonstrate ownership, urgency, accountability, and leadership while driving teams to successfully complete tasks in a fast-paced, changing environment.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in industrial, systems, process, computer science, software engineering, project management, or other related engineering or technical field.3 or more years of experience in product development, systems, test, data analytics, process improvement, application support, business analysis, product ownership, or a similar engineering function.Previous experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Process Owner, or project lead is preferred.End-user focused with a passion for creating practical digital product and process solutions that improve usability, efficiency, and decision-making.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with high attention to detail.Excellent organizational, time management, facilitation, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment.Ability to quickly establish credibility, influence cross-functional teams, and communicate effectively with professionals at multiple levels of the organization.Experience working with engineering data systems, dashboards, databases, lab management tools, workflow applications, or similar digital platforms is preferred.Ability to document, standardize, and improve processes while partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to drive adoption and sustained execution.Demonstrated ability to develop project plans, track progress, manage risks, communicate status, and drive accountability for deliverables.Ability to travel 5-10% of the time is required; travel may include domestic and international travel.Milwaukee Tool is an equal opportunity employer.
