Job summary

Malibu Boats, LLC is seeking a Project Engineer II to independently manage a diverse Marine Components portfolio. You will lead full‑cycle project initiatives, perform hands‑on mechanical design and process engineering, and drive manufacturing innovations to support business growth.

You will coordinate with leadership, suppliers, and customers to ensure on‑time, in‑spec delivery, with strong focus on GD&T, documentation, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • ABET‑accredited engineering degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience as an engineer/designer, or 7+ years equivalent experience.
  • English language skills required for effective communication.
  • Mathematical skills up to algebra level for problem solving.
  • CPM, PE, or other professional certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a diverse portfolio of Marine Components projects end‑to‑end.
  • Create and manage project schedules while coordinating suppliers and customers.
  • Develop quotes and manufacturing plans, including potential processes and tooling.
  • Drive innovation with new ideas to improve products and manufacturing.
  • Coordinate with leadership and engineering teams to maintain timelines.
  • Lead regular project review meetings and drive accountability.
  • Oversee prototypes, pre‑production, and sample builds with documentation and BOMs.
  • Provide design and process engineering support using CAD, GD&T, and technical reports.
  • Support manufacturing through process/method selection, routing, tooling/fixtures, and DFMA.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing to ensure feasible, cost‑effective designs.
  • Demonstrate initiative and proactive communication throughout all phases.
  • Assist with business cases and customer discussions to aid growth.

Job description

Summary:This Project Engineer II position is responsible for independently managing a diverse portfolio of projects within Marine Components. The role encompasses full-cycle project leadership, hands-on mechanical design and process engineering, innovation in product and manufacturing solutions, supplier and customer management, and active support of business development initiatives to drive growth of Marine Components.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Manage projects for a variety of products and components within Marine Components, including metal parts, towers, flooring, board racks, and other marine-related items, with potential expansion into other products and segments.Create and execute project schedules while managing suppliers and customers to achieve milestones and track vendor progressDevelop product quotes and manufacturing plans, including potential design and management of proposed manufacturing process, tooling, and production requirementsDrive innovation by regularly contributing new ideas and solutions to technical and project challengesCoordinate with leadership and engineering teams to develop and maintain accurate project timelinesSchedule and lead regular project review meetings, effectively communicating status and driving accountabilityManage project approvals and associated communicationsOversee prototype, pre-production, and sample builds, including scheduling, detailed build documentation, BOM creation, engineering change management, and resource coordination to ensure on-time, in spec executionPerform responsibilities in product design engineering and process engineering, including concept development, CAD modeling, drawings, design reviews, technical reports, and adherence to GD&T standardsPerform hands on manufacturing support including programming and machine trials (ex CNC Mill/Router, Laser cutter, Sheet metal brake, etc)Provide process engineering support through manufacturing process/method selection, routing creation, tooling/fixture design, DFMA analysis, and production optimizationCollaborate with design and manufacturing teams to deliver feasible, cost-effective designs aligned with production capabilitiesDemonstrate self-driven initiative, high engagement, strong executive function, effective prioritization, and proactive communication with management and internal/external customers throughout all project phasesSupport project justification and business development by assisting with business cases, participating in customer-facing technical discussions, and contributing to the growth of Marine Components.Other duties may be assigned.#MalibuBoatsCompetencies: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:Teamwork: Actively contributes to building a positive team spirit; consistently places team and business success above individual interests; proactively supports team members and shares knowledge to elevate overall team capability and performance.Innovation: Demonstrates independent thinking by regularly contributing novel ideas, creative solutions, and process improvements that advance project outcomes and business objectives.Adaptability: Quickly adjusts to changing priorities and shifting business needs; demonstrates flexibility in reprioritizing tasks and resources while maintaining focus on key project and business objectives.Receptivity: Exhibits objectivity and openness to others’ views; actively gives and welcomes constructive feedback to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.Engaged: Remains physically and mentally present; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, holds self to a high standard of excellence, takes ownership of commitments, and shows strong initiative with proactive communication to team, management, and customers.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
