Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking a project management oriented engineer to support capital and expense projects in Findlay, Ohio. You will work through development, justification, design, construction, and start‑up phases, coordinating with contractors and internal teams to ensure timely, safe project delivery.

You will assist with cost estimates, schedules, and DSP preparation while learning MOC, PSI, and mechanical integrity processes to meet safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required.
• Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical engineering preferred.
• 0+ years of industry experience required.

Responsibilities

• Applies project management skills across all phases: development, justification, design, construction, and start-up.
• Assists with cost estimates, schedules, and DSP preparation.
• Participates in MOC, PSI, and mechanical integrity reviews.
• Coordinates with external engineering consultants to complete projects and studies cost‑effectively.
• Develops scope, cost estimates, and schedules for capital and expense projects; prepares DSPs.
• Collaborates with Maintenance, Construction, and Turnaround teams to support planning and execution.
• Observes HAZOP reviews and incident investigations.
• Learns engineering codes and specifications to ensure designs meet safety and permitting standards.
• Promotes safety awareness and takes corrective action when unsafe practices are observed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists with cost estimates, schedules, and DSP preparation.
• Participates in Management of Change (MOC), Process Safety Information (PSI), and mechanical integrity documentation reviews and learns requirements.
• Coordinates with external engineering consultants and designers to complete projects and studies cost-effectively.
• Develops scope, cost estimates, and schedules for capital and expense projects; prepares Decision Support Packages (DSPs) and presents to leadership.
• Collaborates with stakeholders including Maintenance, Construction, and Turnaround teams to support planning and execution.
• Observes HAZOP reviews and incident investigations
• Learns engineering codes and specifications; ensures designs meet safety, environmental, and permitting standards.
• Promotes safety awareness and takes corrective action when unsafe practices or conditions are observed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required. Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering degree preferred.
• Zero (0) years or more of industry experience required.
