Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Company LP in Findlay, Ohio is seeking an Engineering Project Associate to apply project management across development, justification, design, construction, and start-up under supervision.

The role supports cost estimates, DSP preparation, MOC/PSI reviews, and coordination with external consultants to complete projects cost-effectively, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance across scopes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required; Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical degrees preferred.
  • 0+ years of industry experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Applies project management skills across all phases: development, justification, design, construction, and start-up under supervision.
  • Supports project documentation, data gathering, and coordination tasks.
  • Assists with cost estimates, schedules, and DSP preparation.
  • Participates in MOC, PSI, and mechanical integrity reviews and learns requirements.
  • Coordinates with external engineering consultants to complete projects and studies cost-effectively.
  • Develops scope, cost estimates, and schedules for capital and expense projects; prepares DSPs and presents to leadership.
  • Collaborates with Maintenance, Construction, and Turnaround teams to support planning and execution.
  • Observes HAZOP reviews and incident investigations; learns engineering codes and safety/environmental standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Applies project management skills across all phases: development, justification, design, construction, and start-up. Supports project documentation, data gathering, and coordination tasks under supervision.
  • Assists with cost estimates, schedules, and DSP preparation.
  • Participates in Management of Change (MOC), Process Safety Information (PSI), and mechanical integrity documentation reviews and learns requirements.
  • Coordinates with external engineering consultants and designers to complete projects and studies cost-effectively.
  • Develops scope, cost estimates, and schedules for capital and expense projects; prepares Decision Support Packages (DSPs) and presents to leadership.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders including Maintenance, Construction, and Turnaround teams to support planning and execution.
  • Observes HAZOP reviews and incident investigations
  • Learns engineering codes and specifications; ensures designs meet safety, environmental, and permitting standards.
  • Promotes safety awareness and takes corrective action when unsafe practices or conditions are observed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required. Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering degree preferred.
  • Zero (0) years or more of industry experience required.
