Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s/PhD preferred).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas or ability to obtain within 6 months of hiring.
  • CFM certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and coordinate hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for drainage, land/site development, roadway, channel, stormwater, and floodplain projects.
  • Develop, calibrate, and review hydrologic and hydraulic models using HEC-RAS (1D/2D), HEC-HMS, EPA-SWMM, and other applicable software.
  • Develop drainage impact analyses, floodplain studies, detention analysis, watershed analysis and technical reports.
  • Coordinate with project managers, technical staff, clients, municipalities, permitting authorities, and regulatory agencies to support approvals and successful delivery.
  • Support preparation and coordination of regulatory submittals, including FEMA CLOMR/LOMR, drainage studies, and floodplain permitting.
  • Review plans, calculations, models, and technical deliverables for compliance with project requirements and applicable criteria.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate technical findings and recommendations to clients, project teams, and regulatory agencies.
  • Support project scope, schedule, and budget management and identify potential technical and project delivery issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers in the team.
  • Represent WGA professionally with clients, agencies, partners, and at industry events.

WGA is seeking a Project Engineer, who will be responsible for performing and coordinating Hydrologic and Hydraulic engineering analyses and supporting the design and delivery of drainage and floodplain projects. The position involves applying engineering principles and established criteria to projects of varying complexity, coordinating with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies, and developing technical solutions for challenging drainage and floodplain issues.

Responsibilities

Qualifications / Education & Licensure
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. (Master’s/PhD preferred)
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hiring).
  • Preferred Certifications: CFM.
Experience
  • 3-7 years of relevant experience in hydrology, hydraulics, drainage, floodplain analysis, land development or civil engineering design experience.
  • Experience preparing drainage reports, floodplain analyses, stormwater management plans, technical calculations, construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, scopes, budgets, or schedules.
  • Experience with modeling and design tools (e.g., HEC-RAS (1D/2D), HEC-HMS, EPA-SWMM, XP-SWMM, Civil 3D, GIS).
  • Familiarity with FEMA floodplain mapping and CLOMR/LOMR processes.
  • Experience coordinating with HCFCD, FEMA, TxDOT, municipalities, drainage districts, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Strong technical writing, problem-solving, organization, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting established schedules and budgets.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
