Vertical Mechanical Group in Reston, VA is hiring a Project Engineer to support the execution of commercial HVAC and plumbing projects. You'll work with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to gain hands-on experience from preconstruction through completion.

The role emphasizes coordinating planning, scheduling, budgeting, and documentation, with 0–2 years of experience required and a foundational knowledge of HVAC/plumbing.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years in commercial construction coordination or project management; mechanical construction experience preferred.
• Foundational knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, scheduling, budgeting, and overall project execution.
• Assist in coordinating HVAC and plumbing installations to stay on schedule and within budget.
• Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Monitor project progress and communicate updates to project managers, field teams, and clients.
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and project documentation.
• Collaborate with field personnel to resolve project challenges and maintain productivity.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal departments to ensure successful project delivery.
• Help ensure compliance with company safety standards, quality requirements, and project specifications.
• Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, documentation, and turnover packages.
