French & Parrello Associates is seeking a Project Engineer for the Highway/Traffic department in Newark or Wall, NJ. You will prepare and oversee roadway design plans, specifications, and cost estimates while coordinating with internal disciplines.

The role requires 4–8 years of highway design experience, a NJ PE license (or eligibility within 6 months), and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

Job description

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Project Engineer for our Highway/Traffic department in Newark or Wall, NJ.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and oversee roadway and highway design plans, specifications, and cost estimates
• Perform geometric design, grading, drainage coordination, and maintenance of traffic plans
• Coordinate with internal disciplines including civil/site, traffic, structural, environmental, and utility teams
• Assist in managing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
• Serve as a technical resource for junior engineers and designers
• Attend client meetings and coordinate with public agencies including state agencies, counties, and municipalities
• Ensure compliance with state and federal design standards and procedures
• Support proposal preparation and business development efforts as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• 4–8 years of progressive highway/roadway design experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Experience working on county and/or municipal projects, including those that are state or federally funded
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation (OpenRoads experience a plus)
• Strong knowledge of AASHTO and NJDOT roadway design standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is $90,000 to $115,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
