Job summary

W. O. Grubb Crane Rental seeks a Project Engineer to plan and execute specialized lifting operations for large components in power, petrochemical, and heavy civil projects.

You will produce detailed layouts, fabrication drawings, and run-throughs for crane, rigging, and transportation tasks, with occasional travel to sites for measurements and oversight. Ideal candidates have a Civil/Mechanical background with drafting experience, proficiency in AutoCAD, and strong communication skills to

Qualifications

• Self-starter and a team player.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to give clear direction to support staff and field personnel.
• Ability to produce designs where constructability is a key consideration.
• Strong proficiency and progressive experience in AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Verizon One Talk.
• EIT/FE certification.
• Familiarity with a variety of construction methods, fabrications drawings, crane lift planning, heavy transportation, and rigging.
• B.S. Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with an Associate’s degree in drafting.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of engineering drawings, calculations and procedures related to the systems selected for the execution of project work.
• Development of designs for temporary structures and rigging systems that incorporate both new and existing W. O. Grubb fleet equipment to be used in the execution of rigging projects.
• Development and oversight of load tests for new equipment.
• Production of related execution and fabrication drawings for new equipment.
• Preparation of crane layout drawings and engineering drawings.
• Occasional travel to job sites to take measurements or verify dimensions or to assist in oversight of lifting operations.
