Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to support planning, coordination, and execution on heavy highway and civil projects in Van Wert, OH. You will work with project management, field supervision, subcontractors, and inspectors to deliver safe, high-quality infrastructure.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least three years of experience in heavy civil construction, with a strong focus on safety and accurate documentation. Travel to sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of three years as Project Engineer or Field Engineer in heavy civil/highway.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, equipment, and materials.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and site safety practices.
• High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities to support schedules and budgets.
• Inspect installed work, equipment, and materials; coordinate corrective actions.
• Provide on-site direction and technical support to foremen and crews.
• Monitor project progress and prepare daily reports and documentation.
• Ensure work complies with contract documents, plans, and specifications.
• Support cost tracking and coordination with project stakeholders.
