Walker White Mechanical in Columbia, SC, seeks a Project Engineer to join our growing team. You will work with seasoned PMs and field leaders on commercial and industrial mechanical projects, aiming to advance to a Project Manager within 2–3 years.

You'll gain hands-on operation experience in budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and progress tracking while developing leadership and technical skills through mentorship and a formal development program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
• Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality results.
• Desire to build a long-term career in the construction industry.
• Willingness to spend 12-18 months in the field for hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers in planning, execution, and successful delivery of mechanical construction projects.
• Assist with budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and project cost tracking.
• Coordinate materials, equipment, subcontractors, and project documentation.
• Work with field teams to support project operations and address jobsite challenges.
• Track project progress and communicate with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
• Gain knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and other mechanical systems.
• Participate in project meetings, site visits, and progress reviews.
• Develop leadership and decision-making skills through mentorship.
• Follow a structured career development program toward Project Manager.
