Project Engineering at V2X: Project Engineering involves planning, managing, and executing projects, combining technical expertise with project management skills to achieve objectives. It requires a thorough understanding of the project life cycle and deliverables. Project engineers have extensive engineering experience, especially in developing and executing engineering projects.


Role Overview: Are you ready to lead in creating cutting-edge, mission-critical solutions? As a Project Engineer supporting the engineering and depot solutions team in Indianapolis, Indiana, you'll develop and deploy specialized systems for the U.S. government, including aircraft modifications with advanced mission systems and prototyping innovative technologies. This role involves working on multidisciplinary projects with customers and stakeholders, emphasizing speed, adaptability, and technical excellence. Key Responsibilities: As the Project Engineer, you will be responsible for:


  1. Technical Leadership: Lead multidisciplinary teams to develop and deploy solutions meeting mission objectives; provide technical oversight for projects involving system modifications, platform integrations, and rapid prototyping.
  2. Agile Project Management: Plan, monitor, and execute projects within tight timelines, managing schedules, budgets, and risks effectively.
  3. System Integration and Testing: Coordinate integration of mission systems, sensors, and communication technologies; oversee validation and testing to ensure operational performance.
  4. Customer and Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with government agencies, operators, and users to define requirements and refine solutions; maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
  5. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure deliverables meet standards and specifications; maintain detailed documentation throughout project cycles.
  6. Problem Solving and Adaptability: Address technical and operational challenges with innovative solutions; manage time-sensitive projects requiring discretion.

Required Skills:

  • Strong background in systems engineering, including requirements management, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Experience with project planning tools like Microsoft Project and scheduling techniques.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and tracking project metrics.
  • Proven success in leading high-impact technical projects on tight schedules.
  • Ability to evaluate risks, plan mitigations, and keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Leadership skills for managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
  • Experience mentoring team members and promoting process adherence.
  • Understanding of configuration and quality management principles.
  • Ability to analyze technical data and resolve complex challenges.
  • Experience with risk and opportunity management throughout product lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, and communication platforms.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Azure DevOps.
  • Basic understanding of technical drawings and documentation.
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Experience with standards like IEEE 15288 and AS9100, especially in planning and quality assurance.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's in a STEM field with 6+ years of experience; Master’s or MBA preferred.
