Job summary

Cherokee Millwright, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer in the Operations department. The role supports project execution, documentation, and cross-functional coordination with the project team while ensuring quality and deadlines are met.

The position emphasizes collaboration with the Project Foreman and Project Manager, providing reports and analysis through spreadsheets and presentations. This role may involve travel to different jobsite locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field; OR 2 years’ prior experience via internships, co-ops, or industry employment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task, stay organized, and manage time in a fast-paced environment
• Flexibility and adaptability with a wide range of computer software
• Engineer-in-training certification, Journeyman license, and field experience preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional, first-class customer service.
• Assist with the execution and management of project needs.
• Prepare and present computer-generated spreadsheets and reports.
• Maintain regular communication and collaboration with the entire project team.
• Generate, maintain, and facilitate project documentation across all phases of construction.
• Perform material take-offs from drawings to help generate estimates and changes.
• Demonstrate attention to detail, efficiency, and integrity in all aspects of the work.
• May commute to various jobsite locations as required.
• Attend and conduct meetings as required.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety programs.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.
• Support the Project Superintendent and Project Manager with day-to-day field operations (expediting, timekeeping, RFIs, submittals, design team coordination, quantity checks).
• Note: this position does not do design work.
