Job summary

A construction firm based in Stow, Ohio is seeking a Heavy Highway Estimator to prepare cost estimates for paving projects. The successful candidate will evaluate project proposals, calculate project requirements, and submit competitive bids using Heavy Bid software. They will also work collaboratively with Project Management and ensure compliance with safety policies. Job description

Position Summary

This is a full-time position for a Heavy Highway Estimator located in Stow, Ohio. The Heavy Highway Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates after analyzing drawings and specifications and providing competitive bids for paving projects. The Heavy Highway Estimator will also be responsible for coordinating timely and competitive bid submissions with team members. Post award, the Heavy Highway Estimator will work with Project Management concerning Project hand offs and participation in real-time project management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Review proposals, plans & specifications, attend pre-bid meetings, and perform project site visits to determine scope of work and estimate requirements.
• Prepare quantity take offs, solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, and prepare rough project schedules.
• Submit bid documents and pricing forms in Heavy Bid software.
• Track and manage client document changes and work orders to ensure the project remains within budget.
• Recommend ways to make the job more cost effective.
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with Senior Management assessing the profile risks of each project.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
