Weston is seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer with experience in low voltage distribution and power supply design for miscellaneous non-commercial applications. The ideal candidate will have broad experience in designing new systems and upgrading existing ones for electric vehicle charging, battery backup, solar AC systems, pumps, and motors, with expertise in <600V power systems.

The selected candidate will have a proven track record in multidisciplinary projects, participating in electrical design from field reconnaissance and preliminary concepts through construction and commissioning, with a focus on community learning and mentorship.

Location: Houston, Austin, San Antonio, or Dallas, Texas; West Chester, PA; Chicagoland, IL; or Concord, NH (remote considered for strong applicants)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 7 years of related experience, preferred.
• Registered Professional Engineer with an active NCEES account, able to obtain registration in additional states as needed.
• Knowledge of industrial power systems, DOD power distribution, EVSE, microgrids, solar facilities, backup generators, batteries, or data centers is a plus.
• Familiarity with non-manufacturing engineering consulting, environmental permitting, water treatment, and compliance projects is a plus.

• Experience with analysis tools and modeling software for pipe and electrical systems; familiarity with CAD programs like AutoDesk Civil 3D, REVIT, and Plant3D is a plus.

• Experience in preparing, evaluating, and negotiating bids for private and government projects.
• Experience in arc flash studies using SKM, ETAP, or similar software; capable of developing arc flash labels and site energizing plans.
• Effective communication skills for report writing, proposals, and cost estimates.
• Ability to develop scopes of work, evaluate quotes, and manage subcontractors and vendors.
• Ability to respond to RFPs with technical approaches and competitive pricing.
• Good communication with engineering staff on technical tasks.
• Ability to obtain security clearance for federal work.
• Willingness to perform site visits and bid walks with effective note-taking and field markups.

Expected Outcomes:

• The Professional Engineer is responsible for all engineering work requiring their seal or under their leadership, ensuring compliance with professional standards.
• Adhere to Weston’s Engineering Design Quality Manual and guide project teams accordingly.
• Participate as a leader in technical competencies and mentor junior staff.
• Establish a contact list of project and program management personnel for outreach and support.
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses per design criteria.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to complete projects efficiently and accurately.
• Assist in estimating and tracking project costs, schedules, and deliverables.
• Develop expertise in project design procedures and mentor others.
• Review data, designs, and specifications; perform quality control checks.
• Lead proposal efforts and project cost development.
• Engage in professional societies and interact with clients on project tasks.

Salary Range: $66,400 - $88,600 - $110,700
