Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.
• Experience with commercial building electrical systems and NFPA standards.
• Experience with BIM/ACC/Revit.
• PMI/PMP certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct project scoping activities and interface for resolving engineering design issues.
• Develop preliminary engineering schedules, cost estimates, and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with project teams for estimating, risk id, and planning.
• Submit scope reviews and definitions to Project Managers.

Summary

The Project Engineer - Electrical works independently and in support of Project Managers in designing and implementing electrical system and equipment projects. This role is responsible for developing preliminary project designs, engineering schedules, cost estimates, and qualitative and quantitative risk assessments while ensuring alignment with project objectives and stakeholder expectations.

The successful candidate will lead multiple projects simultaneously, ranging from tens of thousands of dollars to less than $5 million, while serving as a key technical resource for engineering design, electrical system reliability, and facilities support. This position partners closely with Project Managers, Facilities leadership, front-line employees, and external stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct project scoping activities and serve as the primary interface for resolving engineering design issues.
• Develop preliminary engineering schedules, cost estimates, and qualitative and quantitative risk assessments.
• Collaborate with project teams to support estimating, risk identification, and organizational planning efforts.
• Authorize and submit preliminary project scope reviews, scope definitions, and estimates to Project Managers.
• Monitor engineering costs and ensure design schedules remain on target.
• Chair scope meetings and provide regular updates regarding project design status.
• Partner with Project Managers to prepare, submit, and evaluate project bid packages.
• Apply expertise in electrical systems, equipment engineering, and related applications.
• Support Facilities Operations in troubleshooting electrical issues and failures across existing assets.
• Review and update electrical standards and programs as needed.
• Review electrical one-line diagrams, arc flash studies, and coordination studies to ensure project accuracy.
• Present updates to leadership regarding project scope, budgets, schedules, engineering costs, risk assessments, and design progress.
• Work collaboratively with Facilities leadership and front-line employees to gain alignment and approval for project designs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 10+ years of job-relevant electrical engineering experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.).
• Commercial building electrical equipment and systems experience.
• Experience implementing NFPA 70B Electrical Maintenance Programs.
• Experience with NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
• Experience utilizing thermal imaging, power quality analyzers, and EV analyzer testing equipment.
• Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM), Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and/or Revit.
• PMI/PMP (Project Management Institute) certification.
