Job summary

Baker Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to support field activities and assist the Project Manager on multiple projects. You will help manage cost, schedule, procurement, and quality through structured processes and collaboration with diverse teams.

The role requires coordinating with field leaders, preparing budgets, and contributing to safety and regulatory compliance. Travel up to 25% is common as projects vary in scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination with construction experience
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to read and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, and government regulations

Responsibilities

• Generates and obtains approvals of monthly billing and earned values
• Develops and manages the project schedule on small or mid-sized projects
• Analyzes targets and goals, job cost summaries, and other reports
• Alerts the Superintendent and Project Manager of project impact relating to resource management
• Generates and obtains approval of the initial budget and subsequent updates
• Generates estimates of change orders and interfaces with pre-construction on bids
• Manages the job transition process and procurement plans
• Generates material quantity take-offs and procurement support
• Prepares field purchase orders and Major Purchase Orders
• Gathers financial reports and participates in project reviews
• Works with PM to approve and code invoices
• Generates technical records and as-built documentation
• Coordinates with site leaders to generate as-built records
• Manages work package closure, punch lists, and turnover
• Identifies contract change impacts and potential disputes
• Leads LEAN/SQP improvement efforts
• Ensures subcontractor compliance with subcontracts and notices
• Reviews reports for wage compliance and diversity participation
• Interfaces with Safety and Risk Management for incident management
• Follows recruitment guidelines and may conduct new-hire orientation and E-Verify
• Coordinates training tracking with project management
