Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support planning, design, execution, and oversight of facility infrastructure and capital improvement projects in Detroit. You will lead design, engineering, and construction activities, while managing scope, budgets, and schedules.

Collaborate with internal teams, external consultants, and contractors to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with codes and standards, driving project success and lifecycle value.

Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the planning, design, execution, and oversight of facility infrastructure and capital improvement projects.

• Lead the design, engineering, and construction of capital improvement and facility infrastructure projects.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, procurement, and contractor performance.
• Coordinate internal engineering teams, external consultants, contractors, vendors, and design-build partners.
• Oversee construction activities to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to project specifications.
• Identify project risks and proactively resolve technical and operational challenges.
• Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, construction trades, and business stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
• Develop cost-effective execution strategies that maximize facility reliability, asset value, and lifecycle performance.
• Experience managing engineering, construction, facilities, or capital improvement projects.
• Strong understanding of project budgets, schedules, procurement, contractors, and project execution.
• Ability to effectively coordinate internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong technical, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
• Knowledge of building codes, safety requirements, environmental regulations, and engineering standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field preferred.
