Job description

Path Construction is seeking qualified college graduates to join our organization in the Phoenix, AZ area. We are a rapidly growing commercial general contractor with offices in Arlington Heights, IL; Charlotte, NC; Knoxville, TN; Tampa, FL; Dallas, TX; and Phoenix, AZ, working on projects throughout the United States. The typical duties of a Project Engineer include managing day-to-day activities of subcontractors and suppliers, contract administration, procurement, estimating, pay requests, change orders, requests for information, cost control, scheduling, tracking submittals, and maintaining a high level of quality.

The right candidate will have construction management internship experience on large and/or small projects across various asset classes, including but not limited to, Higher Education, Retail, Multi-family, Hospitality, Healthcare, Restaurant, Transportation, Water and Waste Treatment, Self-Storage, Senior Living, Convention Centers, Laboratories, and Correctional facilities. Path Construction values technical skills, good communication skills, and a strong attention to detail.

Duties of a Project Engineer
  • General Contract and Subcontract administration
  • Monitor and document jobsite safety and accident prevention
  • Construction Scheduling
  • Material & Equipment procurement and expediting
  • Process RFIs: receive, review, submit, log
  • Shop drawing and submittal review and coordination
  • Project cost review, reporting, updating, and accounting
  • Review of subcontractor applications for payment
  • Participate in and document project coordination meetings
  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractors' field installations
  • Review and negotiate change proposal pricing from subcontractors
  • Prepare change proposals
  • Manage change order documentation and associated costs
  • Research and suggest construction methods and equipment options
  • Ensure quality control
  • Project closeout procedures
  • Implement safety programs and EEO/Affirmative Action policies
Requirements
  • A 4-year degree in Building Construction, Engineering, or related field
  • Construction management internship experience
  • OSHA Site Safety certification
  • Proficiency with modern technology and excellent communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of construction principles and practices
  • Strong work ethic, team orientation, and desire to grow within the company
  • Valid driver’s license with a positive motor vehicle record
  • Working knowledge of project management software (Microsoft Office, SAGE 300 CRE)
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds
