Job description

Path Construction is seeking qualified college graduates to join our organization in the Knoxville, TN area. We are a rapidly growing commercial general contractor with offices in Arlington Heights, IL; Knoxville, TN; Charlotte, NC; Tampa, FL; Phoenix, AZ; and Dallas, TX, working on projects throughout the United States.

Typical duties of a Project Engineer include:

  1. Managing day-to-day activities of subcontractors and suppliers
  2. Contract administration, procurement, estimating, pay requests, change orders, RFIs, cost control, scheduling, tracking submittals
  3. Maintaining and delivering a high level of quality

The right candidate will have construction management internship experience on various projects and asset classes including Higher Education, Retail, Multi-family, Healthcare, Restaurant, Transportation, Water and Waste Treatment, Self-Storage, Senior Living, and more. We value technical skills, good communication, and strong attention to detail.

Key duties include:

  • Contract and subcontract administration
  • Monitoring safety and accident prevention
  • Construction scheduling
  • Procurement and expediting materials and equipment
  • Processing RFIs: receiving, reviewing, submitting, logging
  • Reviewing shop drawings and submittals
  • Project cost review and reporting
  • Reviewing subcontractor payments
  • Participating in project meetings
  • Supervising subcontractors’ field installations
  • Negotiating change proposals and preparing change orders
  • Researching construction methods and quality control
  • Project closeout and safety program implementation

Requirements:

  • Four-year degree in Building Construction, Engineering, or related field
  • Construction management internship experience
  • OSHA safety certification
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software (e.g., SAGE 300 CRE)
  • Strong work ethic, communication skills, and desire to grow with the company
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel

Preferred qualifications:

  • Public work or estimating experience
  • Self-perform experience
  • OSHA 30-hour training
  • LEED project experience
