Job summary

Rio Tinto Borates in Boron, California, is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Engineering Department. You will manage capital projects from prefeasibility through feasibility, collaborating with operations, processing, environmental, safety and maintenance teams to optimize performance.

The role emphasizes safety, detailed scoping, schedules, and cost estimates, with engagement in contracting, procurement, and capital expenditure processes.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering/Construction Management.
• Minimum 2 years of Project/Construction Engineering experience in mining or heavy industrial industry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver multiple projects across all stages, with focus on prefeasibility and feasibility.
• Collaborate with operations to troubleshoot and optimize changes.
• Coordinate with stakeholders from operations, processing, environmental, safety and maintenance.
• Review contracting plans, engineering and procurement strategies for successful completion.
• Prepare detailed scopes, schedules, costs and communicate milestones to stakeholders.
• Coordinate CEA preparation and project charters with Finance and sponsors.
• Select and oversee engineering and field contractors to complete projects.
• Support optimization and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Complete MOC, SHEAP, risk assessments in project support.
