Project Engineer – Capital Projects (Paint Manufacturing)

Job summary

PPG in Delaware seeks a Project Engineer to plan, coordinate, and implement capital and continuous improvement projects in a paint manufacturing facility. You will ensure safety, on-time delivery, budget adherence, and regulatory compliance across EHS and engineering standards.

You will collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Environmental Health & Safety, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to drive reliability, efficiency, and sustainability, guiding lifecycle phases from scope through closeout

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering.
• PMP certification.
• 3+ years of engineering or project management experience in manufacturing.
• Experience managing capital projects from concept through implementation.
• Experience in chemical, coatings, paint, or process manufacturing.
• Knowledge of process equipment, material handling systems, pumps and piping.
• Proficiency in project mgmt principles (scope, cost, schedule, risk).
• Familiarity with OSHA/EPA regulations and MOC/PSM/RCA methodologies.
• AutoCAD, Microsoft Project and ERP systems knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop capital and CI projects within approved scope, budget, and schedule.
• Develop detailed project plans and schedules using MS Project or equivalent.
• Manage all phases of project execution from design to closeout.
• Prepare cost estimates and track project spending.
• Monitor progress and communicate status, risks, and mitigations.
• Coordinate resources and external contractors to ensure delivery.
• Support front-end engineering and scope development for projects.
• Evaluate designs, vendor proposals, and equipment specs for compliance.
• Provide engineering input to improve processes, reliability, and capacity.
• Develop technical docs, project packages, drawings and specs.
