Job summary

Explore Logistics is seeking a Project Engineer to lead automation and controls projects for mining and pipeline clients. Responsibilities include designing, programming, and troubleshooting PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, plus developing control narratives and specs.

You will manage scopes, budgets, and vendors, support FATs/SATs, and travel to remote sites up to 50% while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Bachelor's in engineering and 3 years of experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, Mechanical, or Mining Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• 3 years of PLC/automation experience, with hands-on work in mining and/or pipeline applications.
• Strong PLC programming skills (ladder, structured text, function block) and HMI/SCADA development.
• Working knowledge of instrumentation, motor control, VFDs, and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, PROFINET).
• Experience managing project scope, cost, and schedule.
• Willingness to travel to remote sites, MSHA or pipeline safety training a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls and automation projects from scope through commissioning and handover
• Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Modicon, Ignition, etc.)
• Develop control narratives, P&IDs, I/O lists, panel drawings, and functional specs
• Manage project schedules, budgets, vendors, and subcontractors
• Support FATs, SATs, and site commissioning at mines and pipeline facilities
• Interface with clients, operations, and electrical/mechanical teams to keep projects on track
• Ensure designs meet applicable safety, electrical, and regulatory standards (NEC, MSHA, PHMSA, ISA)
