Job summary

Lone Horse Ventures is seeking a field-oriented Automation Engineer to design and implement automation solutions for oil and gas facilities. You will work across system design, procurement, FAT/SAT and commissioning, guiding projects from setup to customer acceptance.

Qualifications include a 4-year degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and at least 4 years of oil and gas control projects experience, with PLC/SCADA and HMI skills, plus strong safety awareness and office software

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years’ oil & gas experience with industrial control and automation.
• PLC programming with ladder logic and related systems.
• SCADA experience: ClearSCADA, CygNet or equivalent.
• Panel design/construction experience and HMI programming.
• Experience with AutoCAD and standard MS Office.
• Onsite field experience in upstream/midstream environments and strong safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements automation solutions to meet customer requirements, safety, quality and cost standards.
• Leads project milestones: design, procurement, FAT/SAT, commissioning.
• Provides lifecycle leadership for control/automation projects in oil and gas.
• Collaborates with Project Manager to manage projects to customer acceptance.
• Assists in BOM creation, RFQ reviews, vendor quotes and invoice approvals.
• Allocates project resources and coordinates field automation work.
• Plans factory acceptance tests and field commissioning activities with customers.

Job description

Lone Horse Ventures is a recruitment firm. The client is a systems integrator.

Essential Duties include the following:

• Designs and Implements automation solutions to create the best solution to satisfy customer functional requirements, safety expectations, quality expectations, cost parameters and internal specifications and standards
• Drives and provides overall support to the Application Engineering team to assure the following project milestones are met within the stipulated deadline: System Design and Procurement, Programming and Configuration, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and Commissioning
• Provides project lifecycle leadership and expertise for Control and Automation projects within the oil and gas industry to include project scope, cost, schedule, estimating, progress measurement and change management
• Works with assigned Project Manager to manage projects from original project setup to customer acceptance.
• Aides in the procurement process by creating Bill of Materials (BOM), preparing Request for Quote (RFQ), reviewing vendor quotes and delivery schedules and approving vendor invoices
• Collaborates with Project Manager to allocate resources at the project level to include identification or modification of resources and/or workforce deficiencies
• Coordinates facility and well pad automation project work to be done by the assigned field support team
• Plans and implements Factory Acceptance tests with customers, including required documentation
• Plans and implements field automation solution commissioning activities, including Customer Acceptance Test

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree from a 4 year University to include Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Oil and Gas, working with Industrial Control and Automation Projects
• PLC experience to include ladder logic programming: ScadaPack-Telepace, AB, Fisher ROC FST, Production Manager
• SCADA experience to include ClearSCADA, CygNet, or equivalent
• Required skills in specific disciplines such as PLC, HMI, SCADA, and AutoCAD
• Panel Design and Construction experience required
• Experience with programming HMIs such as Red Lion, Maple Systems, etc.
• Ability to work with engineering and automation enabling software packages a plus
• Microsoft Office experience required
• Onshore Oil and Gas experience; Upstream in a multi well facility and CPF environment setting, Midstream in a pipeline and plants setting, or both
• Strong understanding of HSE processes and procedures involved in Upstream and Midstream settings
• Behave in a professional and ethical manner in line with Strata Innovative Solutions policies
• Must complete all Company required safety trainings
• Must be able to professionally communicate with employees, managers, customers and vendors

Physical Requirements:

• Lifting requirements no greater than 80 pounds
• Sitting in truck traveling to and from customer job sites
• Climbing and working at heights
• Meticulous/fine motor skill work

Office is well-lit, heated, and/or air-conditioned modern office setting with adequate ventilation.

Field work duties will have exposure to the elements, including heat, sun, rain, wind, cold, snow and slippery conditions.
