Job summary

ABEC Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to design and deliver bioprocess and clean utility systems for life‑sciences facilities. You will collaborate across engineering, automation, manufacturing, and quality teams while interfacing with customers to drive projects from concept through qualification.

The role emphasizes hands‑on design, FAT/SAT support, and continuous improvement in a fast‑paced, team‑driven environment, with travel to customer sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• 3+ years engineering experience in biopharma or related field.
• Experience with equipment manufacturing, testing or automation is a plus.

Join ABEC and play a key role in designing systems that power life-saving biopharmaceutical manufacturing. As a Project Engineer, you won’t just support projects—you’ll help drive them, collaborating across teams and working directly with customers to bring complex, cutting-edge solutions to life.

What You’ll Do

As a Project Engineer, you’ll be at the center of engineering, execution, and innovation:

Engineering & Design

• Design and specify bioprocess and clean utility systems for new and upgraded facilities
• Create and review critical engineering documents (P&IDs, GA drawings, BOMs)
• Perform calculations for equipment sizing and system validation
• Partner with designers to ensure equipment meets form, fit, and function expectations

Project Execution & Collaboration

• Support Project Managers to deliver projects on time, on budget, and beyond expectations
• Track project scope, costs, and timelines—ensuring nothing falls through the cracks
• Act as a technical expert and customer point of contact throughout project lifecycle
• Jump in to support project leadership when needed

Quality, Testing & Delivery

• Lead or support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)—both domestic & international
• Develop test plans and collaborate with customers for approvals
• Work closely with Manufacturing and Quality teams to bring designs to reality

Automation & Innovation

• Collaborate with Automation and Electrical teams on system functionality and communications
• Review and approve documentation like FRS and DDS
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement (CI) and operational efficiency

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Biological, or similar)
• 3+ years of engineering experience (5+ preferred in biopharma, piping, or custom equipment)
• Experience supporting equipment manufacturing, testing, or automation is a strong plus
• Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑driven environment
• Familiarity with Continuous Improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma is a bonus
