Job description

HyperStrong is a global leader in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), delivering utility-scale energy storage solutions that support grid reliability, renewable energy integration, and the transition toward a more sustainable energy future.

As our North American business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to support the engineering and execution of utility-scale BESS projects across the United States.

This position will serve as a key technical interface between engineering, project management, construction, procurement, vendors, and commissioning teams, helping ensure projects move successfully from design through construction and final commissioning.

What You'll Do

As a Project Engineer, you will provide engineering coordination and technical support throughout the full project lifecycle, from design and procurement through construction, commissioning, and project closeout.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate engineering activities for utility-scale BESS projects throughout design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Serve as a technical interface between internal engineering teams, Project Management, Construction, Procurement, Commissioning, customers, EPC partners, and equipment vendors.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, equipment documentation, and other technical deliverables for accuracy, constructability, and project compliance.
  • Manage and coordinate technical RFIs, submittals, design clarifications, and engineering changes throughout project execution.
  • Support resolution of technical issues identified during construction, installation, integration, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams regarding equipment specifications, technical requirements, documentation, and delivery-related engineering matters.
  • Support QA/QC activities and help ensure engineering and construction work meets project specifications, applicable standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Support project scheduling and track engineering deliverables, technical milestones, and critical project dependencies.
  • Assist with change-order evaluation by identifying technical scope changes and their potential impact on project execution.
  • Provide field engineering support during construction and equipment installation when required.
  • Support commissioning readiness, system integration, testing, punch-list resolution, and turnover activities.
  • Identify engineering risks and technical constraints early and coordinate with appropriate stakeholders to drive timely resolution.
  • Maintain organized technical documentation and ensure engineering decisions, changes, and project records are properly documented.
  • Capture lessons learned and support continuous improvement of engineering standards, project execution processes, and future BESS deployments.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of Project Engineering or closely related engineering experience supporting projects in the United States.
  • Experience supporting large-scale energy, power, industrial, infrastructure, or EPC projects.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting projects through multiple phases of the project lifecycle, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Experience working with RFIs, technical submittals, engineering changes, QA/QC, procurement coordination, and construction support.
  • Ability to review and understand engineering drawings, specifications, technical documentation, and equipment requirements.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to coordinate resolution of field and project engineering issues.
  • Ability to work effectively across engineering, project management, construction, procurement, commissioning, vendors, and customers.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple technical priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly preferred:

  • Utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Renewable energy or utility-scale power projects
  • Electrical power systems
  • Medium-voltage / high-voltage electrical systems
  • Power conversion systems and electrical equipment
  • Construction and field engineering
  • Equipment installation and system integration
  • Commissioning and acceptance testing
  • Vendor and subcontractor technical coordination
  • Project scheduling and engineering deliverable tracking
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

The ideal candidate is not limited to producing engineering designs. We are looking for someone who understands how engineering decisions translate into real project execution in the field.

You should be comfortable moving between engineering drawings, technical documentation, vendor coordination, construction issues, RFIs, project schedules, and commissioning activities—and taking ownership of technical issues until they are resolved.

Experience supporting the full lifecycle of large-scale projects from design through commissioning will be particularly valuable.

Why Join HyperStrong?
  • Work on large-scale BESS projects supporting the rapid expansion of energy storage across North America.
  • Join a growing North American organization backed by an established global BESS technology and engineering platform.
  • Gain exposure to the complete lifecycle of utility-scale energy storage projects.
  • Collaborate directly with global engineering, project management, construction, commissioning, and product teams.
  • Take meaningful technical ownership as HyperStrong continues expanding its U.S. project portfolio.
