Job summary

Smith Group of Americas is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support large-scale warehouse and industrial tenant improvement projects in the Fort Worth area. The Senior Project Engineer will coordinate project documentation, procurement efforts, scheduling support, and field communication to drive projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Responsibilities include managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and meeting participation with owners and trade partners.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial or industrial construction.
  • Experience supporting warehouse, industrial, distribution center, manufacturing, or large tenant improvement projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents and specifications.
  • Experience managing RFIs, Submittals, Change Orders, and project documentation.
  • Strong proficiency in Procore, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project Management software.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Position Summary

Smith Group of Americas is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support large-scale warehouse and industrial tenant improvement projects throughout the Fort Worth area. The Senior Project Engineer will serve as a key member of the project management team, responsible for coordinating project documentation, subcontractor activities, procurement efforts, scheduling support, project reporting, and field communication.

Role Impact:

Drive project execution. Maintain accountability. Support field operations. Deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Project Coordination & Administration
  • Manage project documentation from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Maintain drawing logs, specification updates, submittal logs, and project correspondence.
  • Coordinate and track Requests for Information (RFIs), Submittals, and Change Orders.
  • Assist Project Managers with project planning, procurement, and execution strategies.
  • Ensure all project records are accurately maintained in Procore and company systems.
Schedule Management
  • Support project schedule development and updates.
  • Monitor milestone dates and critical path activities.
  • Coordinate subcontractor schedules with field operations.
  • Identify schedule risks and communicate potential impacts to project leadership.
  • Assist with production tracking and progress reporting.
Procurement & Material Management
  • Solicit, review, and track vendor and subcontractor bids.
  • Coordinate material procurement and delivery schedules.
  • Ensure long-lead items are identified and ordered in advance.
  • Track equipment rentals and delivery logistics.
  • Support subcontractor buyout activities.
  • Assist in managing project budgets and cost tracking.
  • Review subcontractor invoices and pay applications.
  • Track pending change orders and budget impacts.
  • Assist with forecasting and cost reporting.
  • Support monthly project financial reviews.
  • Work closely with Superintendents to resolve project issues.
  • Participate in site walks and coordination meetings.
  • Assist in managing subcontractor performance and accountability.
  • Support punch list development and project closeout activities.
  • Maintain strong communication between field and office operations.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
  • Participate in owner, architect, engineer, and subcontractor meetings.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and meeting minutes.
  • Communicate project status updates professionally and accurately.
  • Develop positive working relationships with clients and trade partners.
Quality & Compliance
  • Assist with quality control inspections and deficiency tracking.
  • Verify construction activities align with plans and specifications.
  • Support project closeout documentation and warranty turnover.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards, safety requirements, and contract obligations.
Qualifications
