Job summary

Malibu Boats in Town of Florida, NY is seeking a Project Engineer I to manage smaller projects within Marine Components, contributing to larger initiatives through mechanical design, process engineering, and supplier/customer coordination.

You will support business development and drive manufacturing improvements, with hands-on CAD work, BOMs, and participation in project reviews to ensure on-time, in-spec execution.

Qualifications

• Education: BSME or related degree from ABET accredited university preferred.
• Language Skills - English required for effective communication.
• Mathematical Skills: basic algebraic problem solving.
• Reasoning Ability: strong problem-solving, logical reasoning, and root cause analysis.
• Other Qualifications: CPM, PE, or other professional certifications a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage projects for a variety of products and components within Marine Components, including metal parts, towers, flooring, board racks, and other marine-related items, with potential expansion into other products and segments.

• Create and execute schedules for smaller projects while assisting with schedules on larger efforts; coordinate with suppliers and customers to meet milestones and track vendor progress
• Develop product quotes and manufacturing plans for assigned projects, including design and documentation of proposed manufacturing processes, tooling, and production requirements
• Contribute new ideas and solutions to technical and project challenges to drive innovation on both individual and team efforts
• Work with leadership and engineering teams to develop and maintain accurate project timelines
• Participate in and occasionally lead regular project review meetings for assigned projects, communicating status and supporting accountability
• Manage project approvals and associated communications for smaller projects; assist on larger ones
• Oversee prototype, pre-production, and sample builds for assigned projects, including scheduling, detailed build documentation, BOM creation, engineering change management, and resource coordination to ensure on-time, in-spec execution
• Perform product design engineering and process engineering responsibilities, including concept development, CAD modeling, drawings, design reviews, technical reports, and adherence to GD&T standards (with guidance as needed on complex items)
• Provide hands-on manufacturing support including programming and machine trials (ex. CNC Mill/Router, Laser cutter, Sheet metal brake, etc.)
• Deliver process engineering support through manufacturing process/method selection, routing creation, tooling/fixture design, DFMA analysis, and production optimization
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to deliver feasible, cost-effective designs aligned with production capabilities
• Demonstrate self-driven initiative, high engagement, strong prioritization, and proactive communication with management and internal/external customers throughout all project phases
• Support project justification and business development by assisting with business cases, participating in customer-facing technical discussions, and contributing to the growth of Marine ComponentsOther duties may be assigned.
