Job summary

CyberCoders is seeking a detail-oriented Project Engineer to support delivery of public works, commercial, and retail construction projects. You will coordinate design and construction activities, manage submittals, track schedules and budgets, and ensure quality and contract compliance.

The role collaborates with field staff, clients, and consultants to drive projects to successful completion, with regular site visits and documentation management in our PM system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer or similar role on public works, commercial, and retail construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, codes, and permitting processes for public and private projects.
  • Proven ability to manage submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and as-built documentation.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills; able to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and field personnel.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling and cost tracking practices; experience with project management software.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to conduct regular site visits.
  • Preferred (nice-to-have): experience with QSR (quick service restaurant) projects and proficiency with Bluebeam/Revu for plan review and markups.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments, prioritize competing tasks, and maintain attention to detail under deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project managers in planning, coordination, and execution of public works, commercial, and retail construction projects.
  • Prepare, review, and manage technical submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and as-built documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, engineers, inspectors, and vendors to resolve design and constructability issues.
  • Monitor project schedules and budgets; track progress and report status to the project team and stakeholders.
  • Perform site visits to verify work progress, ensure quality control, and confirm compliance with design specifications, codes, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain project documentation in the project management system and ensure accurate record keeping for change orders, progress logs, and daily reports.
  • Support procurement activities including creation of scopes, bid packages, and vendor evaluation.
  • Assist in preparing contract change orders, claims documentation, and monthly pay applications.
  • Implement and enforce quality assurance/quality control procedures and liaise with inspectors for public works projects.
  • Facilitate handover activities including final inspections, punch lists, closeout documentation, and client training.
  • Communicate proactively with clients and internal teams to manage expectations, resolve issues, and deliver a positive project experience.

Position Overview
