Job summary

Sares Regis Group of Northern California seeks a mid-level Project Engineer to support construction across two attached and detached home communities in the SF Bay Area. You will provide technical and administrative support through the full construction lifecycle from preconstruction to closeout.

The role requires 2–4 years of residential construction experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management, and Procore proficiency.

Qualifications

Overview

The Role

The position is a mid-level Project Engineer to support construction activities across two concurrent attached and detached home communities in the SF Bay Area. This role provides technical and administrative support throughout the construction lifecycle — from preconstruction, permitting through design coordination, construction oversight, and closeout/warranty. This is an excellent opportunity for a person with approximately two to four years of experience who wants to grow into broader project management responsibilities within a well-established residential developer and contractor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university required. Applicable degree fields include Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management.
• Approximately two to four years of relevant experience in residential construction or land development, ideally with attached/production-style product. Completion of an entire project is desirable.
• Proficiency with Procore required; familiarity with Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and the MS Office suite strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of California building codes, Title 24 energy standards, and CALGreen requirements.
• Experience in the SF Bay Area market preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support permitting processes, including preparation and tracking of submittals to local jurisdictions, utility agencies, and other governing bodies. Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, and other design consultants to ensure plans meet project requirements, budget, and schedule.
• Develop and maintain standard details for residential construction projects concerning waterproofing, building envelope, acoustic, etc.
• Generate subcontractor and vendor interest in pricing residential construction work.
• Prepare takeoffs and estimates of project plans; collaborate with subcontractors and vendors on scope definition. Assist in Value Engineering efforts.
• Prepare bid packages for pricing subcontracted work and facilitate distribution and collection of bids. Assist Project Manager in levelling bids and updating project budget, accordingly. Maintain database of construction costs for residential product types in the relevant submarket(s).
• Review and redline construction drawings, specifications, and submittals for accuracy, completeness, and constructability. Use BIM as the standard for all projects.
• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts across two active communities.
• Assist with compiling payment requests and putting together monthly reports.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project documentation through Procore.
• Conduct regular jobsite walks to monitor construction progress, quality, and compliance with plans and specifications. Monitor construction site for progress of work, safety, and quality including implementation of a QA/QC program for the project. Hold and document first-in-place installation protocols.
• Attend weekly OAC Meetings including preparation of addenda and notes.
• Coordinate with superintendents and trade partners to resolve field issues and maintain project schedules.
• Track compliance with applicable codes and standards, including Title 24 energy requirements and CALGreen.
• Support project closeout activities, including punch list management, warranty coordination, and turnover documentation.
• Assist in maintaining relationships with municipal staff, utility providers, and other external stakeholders.
