Job summary

LVI Associates is seeking a Senior Transportation Design Engineer in California to lead roadway and highway design for local agencies and state clients. The role combines hands-on design with project management, client engagement, and mentorship of junior staff.

The ideal candidate has a CA PE license, 9+ years of experience, and strong knowledge of Caltrans standards. This position emphasizes leadership, technical excellence, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• Active California PE license required.
• Minimum of 9 years of transportation design engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of Caltrans standards, procedures and design requirements.
• Experience utilizing CAD software for transportation projects.
• Background in preparing PS&E packages and design reports.
• Proven project management experience, including budget and schedule oversight.
• Strong communication and client relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead transportation design projects from concept development through PS&E delivery.
• Prepare and review roadway plans, specifications, estimates, and technical reports.
• Apply Caltrans and local agency standards to transportation improvement projects.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality control requirements.
• Coordinate with clients, agencies, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
