BHC in Overland Park, KS is seeking a Project Engineer to independently perform design and drawing production for development projects. You will apply engineering judgment, validate schematics, and serve as the primary contact for clients and partners.

You will coordinate interfaces, prepare time/cost estimates, and negotiate contract changes. A Civil Engineering degree and PE license are required, with 4+ years' experience in development/public works or utilities.

The Project Engineer is responsible for independently performing the design and drawing production aspect of engineering projects in the Development sector. We are excited to share details of your career path options with you during your employment.Essential FunctionsDefines customer requirements and the conformity of the system to the contractual specificationsCoordinates and controls the interfaces internally, for customers and partnersTechnical point of contact for customers and external partnersAt the design stage, identifies alternatives and optimization opportunities that could impact the design, supplies or site operations, based on the strategy determinedBegins serving as primary point of contact for client project communicationResponsible for the validation of schematics and documentation on specific aspects of projectsReceives and coordinates feedback from the other parts of the process (design, site and client) from the beginning of the basic design to final product approvalPrepares proposal estimates of time and expense required to complete quality projectsNegotiates with clients for supplemental changes to existing contractsCapable of producing a clear, attractive set of plans with minimum supervisionIndependently maintains design and drawing accuracy, quality, completeness, and schedule complianceHas a strong appreciation for and is committed to compliance with graphic standardsMay monitor construction progress and review contractor change ordersMay be required to follow up with client on outstanding invoicesSeeks and accepts increasing levels of responsibilityShows continued and progressive professional development inside and outside of BHCMaintains client relationships and establishes new ones through business development activitiesEngages clients and potential clients to identify future opportunities for workPosition RequirementsExperience4+ years experience in similar field requiredExperience as an Engineer with demonstrated success completing projectsExperience in the Development/Public Works/Utilities industry preferredExperience with a public agency, one of our clients or another consulting firmWork cooperatively in a highly interactive project team settingSkillsMust be proficient in three-dimensional computer aided design and have a strong ability to utilize other technologies on those projectsSpecific and recognized technical expertiseAbility to lead the design on large or complex projectsSelf-starter able to articulate ideas and needsEducationBachelors degree in Civil Engineering requiredMust be a licensed Professional EngineerMasters degree is a plus
