Job summary

SPC Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to drive cost data analysis and budget control on the Hannah Street Pumping Station reconstruction in Staten Island, NY. You will monitor resources and ensure project efficiency across multiple trades and disciplines.

The role supports NYC DEP, with responsibilities to review drawings, plan workflows, manage RFIs, and report progress to owners and management. A strong cost-control mindset and construction knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 3+ years construction engineering experience.
  • Experience in cost accounting and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of scheduling and production time management.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with engineering and field crews to review the production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources.
  • Review all shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data.
  • Provide technical input for the project work plan and scheduling.
  • Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could impact the budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to track project performance.
  • Update project schedule weekly for owner and management reporting.
  • Prepare and manage a three-week work plan and notify management of significant schedule changes with mitigation plans.
  • Initiate and manage all RFIs (Requests for Information).
  • Remit accurate project quantities using assigned cost codes to ensure financial reporting.
  • Manage invoicing with accounting team for materials, equipment and subcontractors.
  • Review certificates and permits needed to perform work.
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) to ensure a safe environment for construction personnel.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews.

Ready to drive financial accuracy and project success? As a Project Engineer, you will track and analyze cost data, ensuring our projects stay on budget. Your expertise in resource monitoring and control, combined with your construction knowledge, will keep our projects running smoothly and efficiently.

Join our team on the Reconstruction and Improvement of Hannah Street Pumping Station project for the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP) in Staten Island, NY. This major wastewater infrastructure project involves the modernization and rehabilitation of the existing pumping station, including demolition, excavation and shoring, dewatering, utility and sewer work, concrete and structural steel, masonry, roofing, waterproofing, mechanical equipment and pumps, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, along with architectural improvements, site work, environmental controls, and other facility upgrades.

How You Will Make An Impact
  • Meet with engineering and field crews to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources.

Who You Are
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 3+ years construction engineering experience.
  • Experience in resource monitoring techniques (i.e. cost accounting, basic estimating) and construction technology, process systems and/or structures preferred.
  • Able to identify budget and project costs and recommend options to mitigate project delays.
  • Knowledge of design build and other alternative build techniques.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting methods, quantity tracking methods and cost coding.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management preferred.
