Job summary

SPC Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to drive cost control and schedule performance on the Palisades Tunnel Project in New Jersey. You will track and analyze cost data, review drawings, and coordinate with field crews to keep projects on budget and on schedule.

You will manage RFIs, calculate quantities, monitor resources, and collaborate with subcontractors and our engineering team on a high-profile infrastructure program using tunnel boring technology.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 3+ years heavy civil construction experience.
  • Experience with resource monitoring techniques (cost accounting, basic estimating) and construction tech.

Responsibilities

  • Review production schedules, materials, equipment and resources with engineering and field teams.
  • Provide input for project work plans and scheduling.
  • Identify budget and schedule risks and propose mitigations.
  • Manage RFIs and verify quantities and cost coding for accurate reporting.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods and crews as needed.

Ready to drive financial accuracy and project success? As a Project Engineer, you will track and analyze cost data, ensuring our projects stay on budget. Your expertise in resource monitoring and control, combined with your construction knowledge, will keep our projects running smoothly and efficiently.

Join us on one of the region's most transformative infrastructure projects. You'll have the opportunity to play a key role in the Palisades Tunnel Project, part of the landmark $16 billion Hudson Tunnel Project connecting New Jersey and New York. Working alongside leading construction partners, you'll contribute to the delivery of twin rail tunnels beneath the Hudson River using state-of-the-art tunnel boring technology. This is a high-profile, technically complex project that will strengthen a critical transportation link between New Jersey and Manhattan for generations to come.

How You Will Make an Impact
  • Meet with engineering and field crews to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources.
  • Review all shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data.
  • Provides technical input for project work plan and scheduling.
  • Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance.
  • Update project schedule weekly for owner and management reporting.
  • Prepare and manage a three-week work plan. Notifies engineering and project management of any significant schedule changes and develops solutions to mitigate delays and cost.
  • Initiate and manage all Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Remit accurate project quantities using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported.
  • Manage invoicing with accounting team regarding materials, equipment and subcontractor needs.
  • Review certificates and permits needed to perform work.
  • Review required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliance work environment for all construction personnel.
  • Coordinates subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed.
Who You Are
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 3+ years heavy civil construction experience.
  • Experience in resource monitoring techniques (i.e. cost accounting, basic estimating) and construction technology, process systems and/or structures preferred.
  • Able to identify budget and project costs and recommend options to mitigate project delays.
  • Knowledge of design build and other alternative build techniques.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting methods, quantity tracking methods and cost coding.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management preferred.
