Job summary

SPC Co. in New York City invites a Project Engineer to track cost data and monitor resources for the Reconstruction and Improvement of Hannah Street Pumping Station, a NYC DEP project on Staten Island.

You will help keep our programs on budget while aligning field activities with the schedule. A Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of construction engineering experience are required, with strong cost accounting and estimating skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 3+ years of construction engineering experience.
  • Experience with cost accounting or basic estimating.
  • Knowledge of design-build and alternative build techniques.
  • Understanding of financial reporting, quantity tracking, and cost coding.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with engineering and field crews to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources.
  • Review shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data.
  • Provides technical input for project work plan and scheduling.
  • Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance.
  • Update project schedule weekly for owner and management reporting.
  • Prepare and manage a three-week work plan. Notifies engineering and project management of any significant schedule changes and develops solutions to mitigate delays and cost.
  • Initiate and manage all RFIs.
  • Remit accurate project quantities using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported.
  • Manage invoicing with accounting team regarding materials, equipment and subcontractor needs.
  • Review certificates and permits needed to perform work.
  • Review required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliance work environment for all construction personnel.
  • Coordinates subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed.

Your expertise in resource monitoring and control, combined with your construction knowledge, will keep our projects running smoothly and efficiently.

Join our team on the Reconstruction and Improvement of Hannah Street Pumping Stationproject for theNYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP)in Staten Island, NY. This major wastewater infrastructure project involves the modernization and rehabilitation of the existing pumping station, including demolition, excavation and shoring, dewatering, utility and sewer work, concrete and structural steel, masonry, roofing, waterproofing, mechanical equipment and pumps, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, along with architectural improvements, site work, environmental controls, and other facility upgrades.

How You Will Make an Impact

Who You Are
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 3+ years construction engineering experience.
  • Experience in resource monitoring techniques (i.e. cost accounting, basic estimating) and construction technology, process systems and/or structures preferred.
  • Able to identify budget and project costs and recommend options to mitigate project delays.
  • Knowledge of design build and other alternative build techniques.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting methods, quantity tracking methods and cost coding.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management preferred.
