Job summary

SPC Construction in New York is seeking a Project Engineer to track and analyze cost data, keeping the North/West Battery Park City Resiliency Project on budget and ensuring efficient resource control across on-site operations.

You will review shop drawings and specifications, develop and adjust work plans, manage RFIs, coordinate subcontractors, and uphold safety and compliance while delivering cost-effective results for a high-profile flood-protection initiative.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
• 3+ years heavy civil construction experience.
• Experience in resource monitoring techniques (i.e. cost accounting, basic estimating) and construction technology, process systems and/or structures preferred.
• Able to identify budget and project costs and recommend options to mitigate project delays.
• Knowledge of design build and other alternative build techniques.
• Knowledge of financial reporting methods, quantity tracking methods and cost coding.
• Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet with engineering and field crews to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources.
• Review all shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data.
• Provides technical input for project work plan and scheduling.
• Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
• Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance.
• Update project schedule weekly for owner and management reporting.
• Prepare and manage a three‑week work plan. Notifies engineering and project management of any significant schedule changes and develops solutions to mitigate delays and cost.
• Initiate and manage all Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Remit accurate project quantities using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported.
• Manage invoicing with accounting team regarding materials, equipment and subcontractor needs.
• Review certificates and permits needed to perform work.
• Review required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliance work environment for all construction personnel.
• Coordinates subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed.

Your expertise in resource monitoring and control, combined with your construction knowledge, will keep our projects running smoothly and efficiently.

Join our North/West Battery Park City Resiliency Project and help protect the future of Lower Manhattan. In partnership with Turner Construction, SPC Construction is delivering a transformative flood-protection system that spans from Tribeca through Battery Park City—safeguarding 120+ buildings, 25,000 residents, and iconic sites like the World Trade Center transit hub and the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. You’ll be part of building state-of-the-art fixed and moveable flood barriers, upgrading drainage infrastructure, and constructing a new pump station along Route 9A. When complete, this project will eliminate flood-insurance requirements for federally backed mortgages and earn WEDG certification for resilient waterfront design.
