Job summary

Speedwell Construction is hiring a Project Engineer to join our on-site project management team in Matthews, NC. You will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, architects, engineers and owners to move projects from planning through closeout.

You will manage RFIs, submittals, and documentation, coordinate with all stakeholders, and help with buyouts and safety planning. A structured, tech-savvy, team-oriented candidate will thrive.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver's license and basic computer skills are required.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• OSHA 10-hour certification is a plus.
• Commercial or industrial construction exposure is advantageous.
• Experience with construction software (Bluebeam, Viewpoint, Revit, MS Project) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage submittals and track RFIs throughout the project.
• Review drawings, specs, contracts, subcontracts, and PO docs.
• Coordinate with project team, subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and engineers.
• Solicit subcontractor and supplier pricing for change orders.
• Assist with subcontractor and vendor buyout for assigned scopes.
• Resolve scope, drawing, and document coordination questions.
• Maintain organized digital drawing sets and project info.
• Support safety planning and jobsite documentation.
• Take ownership of closeout documentation and deliverables.
• Visit active sites for meetings, coordination, and inspections.

Speedwell Construction is looking for a motivated Project Engineer to join our project management team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build a career in commercial construction while gaining hands-on experience working alongside Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and owners.

As a Project Engineer, you will be involved in projects from planning through closeout, gaining exposure to the processes, technology, and relationships that keep a construction project moving. We are looking for someone who is organized, comfortable with technology, eager to learn, and willing to take increasing ownership as their knowledge and experience grow.

What You'll Do

• Manage the submittal process and prepare, track, and maintain Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Review and work with construction drawings, specifications, contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and other project documentation.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and engineers.
• Solicit subcontractor and supplier pricing for change-order work.
• Assist with subcontractor and vendor buyout for assigned scopes of work.

• Experience with Bluebeam, Viewpoint, Revit, Microsoft Project, or similar construction technology
