Job summary

Sterling Construction Company, Inc. in Lubbock, TX is seeking a project engineer to support civil construction activities. You will track costs, forecasts, and reports, manage RFIs and submittals, and assist with procurement, scheduling, and project startup/closeout.

Emphasis on safety, quality, and collaboration with subcontractors and vendors. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management and 2+ years of experience in civil construction, or 3+

  • 2+ years of civil construction experience or 3+ years hands-on field experience preferred.
  • Solid understanding of field operations, construction practices, and project workflows.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to influence across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Track and manage project costs, forecasts, and reports.
  • Handle RFIs, submittals, invoices, and contract documentation.
  • Support procurement, scheduling, and project startup/closeout; assist with safety, quality, and risk management.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Support Project Manager in day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities
